Peter McGuigan had just returned from Canadian Vision Care team in Jamaica.
"I saw the results of hurricane Ivan," he said. "It
devastated the
south side houses and schools. therefore the kids were not pre-screened and they
had to make their way to us through washed-out roads." Peter
promises to show the club his pictures.
Returning from Italy, Tony
Marshall said, "I wasn't there on such a noble cause as Peter,"
he said. "I ate and drank my way across Italy - counting the days until I
returned." Welcome back Tony.

Leah Wilson has been
chosen as the club's next outbound student.
Memorial Centre, Nov.
30 - all Memorial Centre users are invited to speak out on improvement topics
and how to use grant money. Please attend.
Jim Ross said,
"The Park's Committee is working hard and suggest a Rotary Ladies Luxury
Spa is needed (surely he jests). We are in the process of hiring consultants to
help with various ideas and are in the business of planning, making blue prints
and need professional backup." Jim promises to have the basic
concept ready in mid-January.
Sergeants- At- Arms:
Hal Knox
asked Gordon Barker how he was doing and Gordon replied amidst
gales of laughter from the men, "Anyone I can." Fine.
Bill Fowler
was fined for rousing with Hal. It cost B.J. a fine because of the
visiting Swedish exchange student. Doug Gardiner was fined for not
introducing our newest member Ray Fenton.
However Kelly
Nisgard fined herself because the clock was running slow.
Speaker's Corner
Inbound
exchange student Baptiste Poublang arrived from France on August 16. He has just
moved to Wilson's from his second host family experience. He is from
Dunkirk, France.
"Dunkirk is a fishing and sailing port," Baptiste told the audience.
"It's the most 'sportive' town in France with lots of sea sports."
"At the annual carnival, which runs from January to March," he said,
"it's an opportunity to drink beer."
Baptiste's family lives in a school where his father is the principal. He has a
6-year-old brother and a 13-year-old sister. His hobbies are hockey, hockey and
hockey. He said he generally enjoys all sports.

"Last Saturday the
members of the executive met and discussed development in the World
Service, where club's spoke
on their projects," Wayne Moore said. ""It gave us a
better view of what we could accomplish and it is a good program."
Hal Knox said,
"I am a citizen!" referring to the fact that he has sent money to
Ottawa in order to get a spot in Rotary's Adventure in Citizenship
Program. "We are starting to initiate the high school student selection
process, " he said. "It should be completed at the end of January or
early February."
'The Interact Club
project will be to help the Salvation Army ring the bell," Ken
Dudgeon told the club. "We will circulate a sign-up list at the next
meeting and the students will fill-in where needed."
Ray
Fenton was inducted into the club as our newest member. Welcome Ray.
Handing out calendars
to club members, Dave Mezaros said it was for the benefit of all
concerned.
Doug Sadler sold
U.K. Amwell Rotary Club quiz questions for $2. Amwell is expecting to make a
record as the world's largest quiz. There were 10 questions and a few of the
questions will require further research. "It's expected that 1,000 clubs
could enter," Doug said. "Sixty-five per cent of all funds go
to R.I."
Bart Broklebank needs
to know if you lan to attend the April 100th Rotary Anniversary Party at the
Roundup Centre. There are only 1500 tickets, so let Bart know if you plan
to attend so that he can reserve a ticket.
Sergeants-At-Arms:
Hal Knox
was fined for his corny jokes. Doug Sadler had to pay up for not sending
the usual first table to
the buffet as per some kind of ritual. It cost Ken Dudgeon for not
turning off his cell phone. Ted Dawson paid for his Christmas musical
tie. Doug McLaughlin was fined for just being Doug. For leading a
double life, Cliff Squires paid a fine for a double-sided business card.
Gerry Coakwell thinks bad things and it cost him a fine. Likewise for Jim Ross. Bill
Fowler was fined for being late. Penguins and south pole adventures cost Pat
Korol.
Speaker's Corner
Ted Dawson called
the meeting to order to present the list of club officers for next year. The
result was:
